Heather is a guest speaker for our panel discussion: Social Media: The CEO’s Perspective

Heather Ferguson is the founder and principal of Whale Content Studio, helping businesses create quality content for their website and social platforms that inform, engage and attract customers.

In her career, she worked in a wide range of communications functions with organizations such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the University of Toronto, The Hearing Foundation of Canada and others. Her expertise includes journalism; both broadcast and print, stakeholder relations, major gift fundraising and brand development. In 2013, Heather launched a monthly web series, Sonar Moment, dealing with leadership issues and featuring one-on-one interviews with CEOs in the Pacific Northwest. That web series is distributed through social media and iTunes, and in 2014 will air on Shaw TV.

Heather holds a degree from the University of Toronto as well as post-graduate degrees from Ryerson University’s School of Journalism and McMaster University, from which she holds a Master of Communications Management. Professionally, she holds the designation ABC, (Accredited Business Communicator) and between 2003 and 2012, CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive).

An active volunteer, Heather sits on the Board of Directors for Save the Children Canada and, in Victoria, sits on the Board of the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

Bryan Dwyer

Bryan is a fourth-year marketing student in Victoria, BC. Concurrent with his education, he has had the opportunity to work with and learn from a local advertising agency and an online marketing consultant; and along with his studies and Community Manager responsibilities here at Social Media Camp, he is currently working as a consultant with the gift marketing platform Kiind. He has developed a passion for effective strategy, a fascination with new ideas, and a dependence on good coffee.
