Session Title: Education and Social Media in the Classroom

Session Extract:

This presentation will offer the attendee to learn about the effective use of Social Media Platforms and apps in the classroom. The workshop will be geared for the beginner user. I will share assignments and my experiences with different social media platforms/assignments in various courses that I’ve taught at UVIC. This presentation will be useful to others outside of education.

About the Speaker:

I am an American ex pat living in lovely Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Prior to this, San Diego, CA was my home. I live with my family just minutes from the University of Victoria (UVIC), where I work in the Department of Political Science.

I am also an Undergraduate Advisor in my home department. I teach the following courses: Gender and Politics, Gender and International Politics, Worlds of Politics, Feminist Political Thought, Youth Politics, Politics and Popular Culture, American Politics, and American Public Policy.

I am a contributing writer to the University of Venus and our posts run on Insider Higher Education. I also have my own blog on WordPress and am a guest blogger on other blogs such as Gender Across Borders and Equality 101. I regularly blog about pedagogy, gender, and popular culture.
