The Social Media/Productivity Balancing Act:
Staying connected and staying productive can be a very tricky thing to do. Sure, there are tools out there that will keep your feet somewhat planted in both camps, but the biggest tool for this is you. This session aims to show how you and your habits can make you the good kind of tool – as opposed to just being one.
Mike Vardy is a Victoria-based writer/comedian who runs the satirical productivity site Eventualism. The site demonstrates a Stephen Colbert-esque take on the world of productivity and lifehacking, and his alter-ego (Mike Vardy, Eventual Productivity Expert) has conducted interviews, written reviews, produced podcasts and waxed idiotic in an attempt to preach the ideology of eventual productivity to the world. As a result of his efforts, he is now the editor of the popular productivity site WorkAwesome, and has even written for the “frienemy” – David Allen (founder of Getting Things Done) – on his signature blog, GTD Times. In all of his spare time, he also writes here, podcasts here and does these kind of “talky-thingys” you seem to be interested in.
