In keeping with our goal of making Social Media Camp Victoria the finest social media event on the West Coast, we need the help of fabulous speakers, moderators and volunteers.
We actively seek out and bring in speakers from across North America who are leaders in their fields.
However, we also want to allow local speakers the opportunity to showcase their talent at a premiere event, through being on a panel, giving a presentation, leading a workshop, or offering their expertise 1-on-1 during the genius bar.
We want to provide this opportunity to as many people as we can (with the inclusion of the genius bar this year, we expect dozens of local professionals will have the opportunity to build their network and raise their profile). Obviously we could not not provide this opportunity to as many speakers as we do if we offered free attendance (last time, speakers and panelists represented nearly 10% of the attendance).
Similarly, with volunteers, we seek out people who are coming to the event anyway, and would love to help out. We don’t want people who aren’t particularly interested in the event, but want to come because it’s “free” for volunteers. Rest assured, our volunteers will be rewarded, but not with free admission. So, if you are coming to Social Media Camp, and would like to do a shift on the registration desk, help with setup, introduce a speaker or moderate a panel, we welcome your help!
