She is responsible for the “do” part of the panel as she has built her social media accounts organically and uses social media for client retention and to build loyalty in the Inn at Laurel Point brand. Hear Avril speak about how she uses social media within her marketing programs and how she manages her on-line and off-line budgets and time.
About the speaker:
As a lover of all things social media (and a self-proclaimed “Twitterbug”), Avril Matthews is a member of the Tourism Victoria Sales and Marketing Committee adding her more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry into the mix. Since 1999, Avril has held a number of positions at the Inn at Laurel Point and is currently the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining the Inn, Avril worked at Toronto’s Sutton Place Hotel, Hilton Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel. Avril is an active member of the Association of Marketing Executives of Victoria, is a graduate of Cornell University (School of Hotel Administration) and has a certificate in Revenue Management. In her spare time, Avril can be found walking her Weimeraner, backpacking the globe or enjoying a good glass of BC wine on AURA’s waterfront patio.
