Intertainment Media Innovation Zone

Social Media Camp is very excited to announce that Intertainment Media Inc. will be the charter sponsor for this year’s event and also sponsor the Intertainment Media Innovation Zone competition at the event on June 8 – 9, 2012.

The Intertainment Media Innovation Zone is a contest for early stage Canadian and US technology start-ups with a prize of $5,000 cash and $20,000 in business services.

Intertainment Media will short list up to 10 entrants who will be invited to showcase their product at Social Media Camp. Short listed companies will receive exhibit space valued at $1,500 at Social Media Camp and will present their business concept in person to the Intertainment Media Innovation Zone panel at a Pitch off on Saturday, June 9, 2012. The session will be video taped with the winner announced on June 9, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. at Social Media Camp.

“We are actively seeking the best of early stage technology and digital firms, and we believe that sponsoring our Innovation Zone event with Social Media Camp is an excellent opportunity for all, ” says Intertainment Media CEO David Lucatch. “We have a first-hand understanding of the challenges facing Canadian technology companies today, especially having access to  the type of services that are difficult for start-ups and early stage companies to afford. And that’s why its so important to us to be in a position to give back to the community.”

Innovation Zone entrants must be Canadian or American technology companies with a proprietary product or service in the early or start up stage, or in a growth period. The entrants must have a basic business plan and demonstrated ability to handle the technical and business aspect of their business.

“We were delighted with the support Social Media Camp gave us last year and knowing that Victoria is a growing, tech forward community, we decided  to come back as the Charter Sponsor and launch our Innovation Zone competition,” says Lucatch.

The short list will be announced on May 18, 2012.
